In this article he tries to makes a comparison between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shariati.com\/\">Ali Shari`ati<\/a> and <a href=\"..\/..\/English.htm\">Abdolkarim Soroush<\/a> before and after the Iranian revolution of 1979.<\/p>\n<p>But the article perpetuates a fallacy that the enemies of religious intellectualism have long tried to spread, namely the false account of the story of Cultural Revolution <em>(Page 514 of the above article)<\/em>. They simply conflate, deliberately, two things; The Cultural Revolution and the Council for the Cultural Revolution. The latter was created after the closing down of the universities, in order to reopen them. The closing down of universities was part of the disorganized acts of the so called revolutionary groups all over the country. Any way the Council had nothing to do with the &#8216;event&#8217; itself, and indeed it tried to annul it\u00a0as well as possible.<\/p>\n<p>This could be very misleading for the readers that may not be familiar with the chain of events at that time.
